Mary Discher is a creator at heart. It could be just a color. A shape. A picture. Or a random thought that inspires her to create.

“Making stuff” has always been her brilliance. She can take an idea, whether her own or someone else’s, and bring it to life. With an eye for design, artistic knack, graphic arts skill, love of paint, and a spirit of courage, her creations are appreciated and enjoyed.

Mary has had a love for acrylic painting for over 25 years. Having retired from a prominent career in graphic design and advertising, her painting style many times reflects a bit of a graphic feel.

Her work rarely reflects a purely realistic interpretation of her subject matter with each creation bringing a nuance of intrigue, unique perspective and possibly even spunk.

Her art studio in her home is her “happy” place…here she creates “happy” for others. Mary’s inspiration comes mostly from nature and life. She typically utilizes bright colors and crisp lines as she captures things that surround us. The gnarly branch of a sycamore tree. The sparkling blue water of Tahiti. A blossoming cactus flower. From bright color – which is her trademark – to softer muted tones, her work is versatile as you will see throughout her complete gallery.

Mary and her work have been featured on the cover of Mountain View Magazine. She’s had her “Pretty Prickly” piece wrapped on utility boxes in Peoria and Tempe. Her work has been displayed at the Sonoran Arts Gallery in Carefree, as well as the Ground Floor Artists’ venue in Surprise. She typically participates in the Spring and Fall Trilogy at Vistancia Artwalks. Mary is always on the lookout for new opportunities to share her love of painting.
